The Minister of Public Works, Transport, and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands, Pablo Rodríguez, has reported that the works for the third lane of the TF-5, in the section between Los Rodeos and Guamasa, will commence at most one month after the signing of the execution contract, which will take place in a week.
This project, in response to a question from the Nationalist Group, is on the verge of starting and will extend for 36 months. The project, awarded to the UTE Ferrovial-Asyota, has a budget of 58.2 million euros.
Rodríguez highlighted the importance of this work for improving the road network of the island of Tenerife, as it will increase the road's capacity in an area that currently creates a "bottleneck" for drivers coming from the north.
For his part, Jonathan Martín (CC) described the work as "highly anticipated and demanded" after four years "absolutely blank," and urged to "move from words to shovels and works." He also called for "technical monitoring" of the progress of the works to minimize "inconveniences" for drivers and avoid "more traffic jams."
