The Local Police have initiated proceedings to clarify the events, analyzing surveillance camera footage and other evidence. The council requests citizen collaboration to identify those responsible for these acts, described as a "serious assault" on the UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Councilor for Citizen Security, Badel Albelo, assured that all means will be used to identify the perpetrators, adding that "those who act this way must know they will not go unpunished." A call is made to any witness or person with relevant information to report it to the Local Police.
For his part, the Councilor for Municipal Services, Fran Hernández, recalled that the City Council annually allocates nearly 100,000 euros to the removal of graffiti and repair of damages. Municipal services have already begun cleaning efforts to restore the spaces to their original condition.
Municipal ordinances stipulate fines of up to 3,000 euros for acts of vandalism, in addition to the obligation to cover repair costs. In more serious cases, the incidents may be transferred to criminal proceedings. The City Council will act firmly to demand accountability.
The council reiterates its commitment to the conservation of the historic center, an internationally recognized site and a symbol of the municipality's identity, and appeals for civic responsibility and respect.
