During the year 2025, the Canary Islands experienced a total of 98.1 hectares of forest land burned. Of this figure, the majority, 88.3 hectares, corresponded to non-forested areas. These data are part of the Forest Fire Statistics for the Canary Islands, published annually by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).
In the same year, 2025, 44 forest fires were recorded in the archipelago, representing the lowest figure since 2021. Compared to 2024, when 53 incidents occurred, this signifies a 17% decrease in the number of incidents.
However, the area affected by fire saw a significant increase, exceeding 245%. In 2024, 23.4 hectares were burned, while in 2025, this number rose to 98.1. The ISTAC publication provides historical data on forest fires in the region dating back to 1968.
