The festivities in Antigua will span 17 days, from August 24 to September 8, with a program designed to foster fun and good coexistence. As highlighted by several members of the municipal government during the program's presentation, significant effort has been made to offer a varied lineup that includes revived traditional events and new proposals specifically aimed at young people.
The musical highlight will be the concert by the Argentine cumbia band Ráfaga, scheduled for Saturday, September 5, at 11 PM. The mayor, Juan Cabrera, emphasized the concert's quality and called for maximum public attendance, describing it as a top-tier event achieved with little time and great effort.
The Councilor for Festivities, Lucila Ruiz, underscored the recovery of traditional events and the increased focus on young people. She also highlighted the historical opening speech to be delivered by parish priest Isidoro Sánchez López on August 28. Ruiz thanked the efforts of the Festivities Commission, chaired by Rodrigo Carreño Franquiz, in organizing events such as the song prepared for the patron saint during the pilgrimage and the youth concert by Muchachitos del Swing.
The festive program also includes the traditional Brotherhood Meal, pilgrimage, offering to the Virgin, tribute to Canarian wrestling, escala en-hifi, rally, fireworks, floral wake with the Agaete Band, bell ringing, religious service, procession, and toast. Complementing these events, new additions include cockfighting, a concert by 'los 600', sports competitions, an 80s concert, and a grand festival on September 7.
