The official presentation of the program took place this Thursday, with several members of the municipal government highlighting the event. Mayor Juan Cabrera emphasized the effort made to create a participatory program, with active collaboration from the Festivities Commission, chaired by Rodrigo Carreño Franquiz. A first-class concert featuring the Argentine cumbia band Ráfaga was highlighted, scheduled for Saturday, September 5 at 11:00 PM, following a tribute concert to Mecano.
For her part, the Councilor for Festivities, Lucila Ruiz, emphasized the 17 days of fun and good coexistence that are approaching. She announced the recovery of traditional events, greater prominence for young people, and a historic opening speech by parish priest Isidoro Sánchez López on August 28. Ruiz also mentioned the preparation of a special song for the patron saint during the pilgrimage, to be sung by representatives of various groups, and a youth concert by Muchachitos del Swing on September 4 in the morning, thanking the Festivities Commission for their efforts.
The festival program includes a wide variety of events. The president of the Festivities Commission, present at the presentation, detailed that the Brotherhood Meal, pilgrimage, offering to the Virgin, tribute to Canarian wrestling, scale en-hifi, rally, and fireworks will be held. These traditional events are complemented by new additions such as cockfighting, concerts from the 60s and 80s, sports competitions, and a 'verbenazo' on September 7.
