The facility, which began construction in 2025, was halted due to issues with the previous contractor. This situation required the administration to complete various administrative steps before the project could move forward.
According to information provided by the Department of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports to the Antigua City Council, the goal is to resume work on the site by the end of 2026. The final schedule will depend on the completion of the current bidding process.
The current forecast places the completion of the project between March and April 2027. Meanwhile, the City Council has stated its intention to closely monitor the progress of the procedures to ensure that the facility, considered an essential service for local families, can be operational as soon as possible.
