The island of Fuerteventura will have 11 beaches awarded with the Blue Flag during the summer of 2026, representing an increase compared to the previous year.

This recognition, granted by ADEAC, has been driven by the recovery of the award at Corralejo Viejo beach, located in the municipality of La Oliva. This progress reflects a significant improvement in the water quality of the bay, overcoming historical issues with leaks that affected the area.
At the island level, the municipality of Pájara leads the list with four distinguished beaches: Butihondo, Costa Calma, El Matorral, and Morro Jable. Meanwhile, La Oliva adds three flags with Corralejo Viejo, Grandes Playas de Corralejo, and La Concha in El Cotillo. Additionally, Puerto del Rosario maintains three awards at Playa Blanca, Los Pozos, and Puerto Lajas, while Tuineje retains the flag at Gran Tarajal beach.
Across the Canary Islands, a total of 52 Blue Flags have been granted. Gran Canaria leads the regional list with 15 beaches, followed by Fuerteventura and Tenerife with 11 each. The program evaluates strict criteria including water quality, safety, services, and environmental management.
