The Government of the Canary Islands will mobilize 487.5 million euros in 2027 for the Archipelago's primary sector, combining own resources, state contributions, and European funds.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing, and Food Sovereignty will have 154.7 million euros in own funds for its 2027 budget, a 0.86% increase compared to the previous year, excluding the already extinct MRR funds. The budget prioritizes investments in hydraulic infrastructure (24.7 million), modernization of holdings (17.2 million), and generational renewal (7.5 million), in addition to increasing resources for agricultural and fishing training and professional qualification.
Minister Narvay Quintero explained that these accounts respond to the particularities of a fragmented and remote territory, conditioned by insularity surcharges, import dependency, and water scarcity. The Executive's priorities focus on consolidating local production, improving competitiveness and profitability, facilitating the incorporation of young people, and advancing in the modernization, innovation, and sustainability of the sector.
The Ministry's own resources amount to 154,738,801 euros, with an 18.48% increase in real investments to 43.7 million euros. In addition to the 172 million euros initially allocated, another 23 million euros from extra-budgetary funds will be added, bringing the available resources to approximately 195 million euros.
Of the total 487.5 million euros, 172 million correspond to the Autonomous Community's own funds, 29 million to state financing, and 286.5 million to European funds. The distribution of own funds includes 136 million for the Ministry, 10.9 million for the ICIA, 7.8 million for the ICCA, and 17.2 million for GMR Canarias.
The Canary Islands Support Program for Agricultural Productions (POSEI) is the main support instrument, along with the Specific Supply Regime (REA) and the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy (PEPAC), in addition to the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF). State contributions include 21 million for additional POSEI and eight million for water subsidies.
Action lines for 2027 include 24.7 million for hydraulic infrastructure, 17.2 million for modernization of holdings, and 7.5 million for generational renewal. 4.8 million are allocated to agricultural and fishing training and professional qualification, and eight million to agro-environmental and climate interventions.
In fisheries matters, the Government will allocate 8.3 million euros to compensate for surcharges through POSICAN Pesca. The EMFAF will provide 20.8 million euros for investments in processing, marketing, and port equipment. Support for fishermen's guilds has been increased by over 600,000 euros.
The ICIA will double funding for strategic agricultural R&D projects (CAIA) to 1.5 million euros. The ICCA will allocate over one million euros to promote agri-food products and nearly 1.3 million to the Ecocomedores program and the Agroecology Plan.
The public company GMR Canarias will facilitate the marketing of agri-food productions, promote innovation and short commercial circuits, and continue the Dinamiza Rural program to combat rural depopulation.
