The José Saramago House Museum in Lanzarote is preparing for a cultural day on April 25th, evoking the spirit of freedom of April 25th with a program that fuses theater, literature, and memory.

The event will begin at 6:30 PM with the performance of the play Contar con los dedos (Counting on Fingers), presented by the Contratiempo company. This piece, performed by Teresa Cavanna and José Estany, tells the story of a couple who, after a lifetime together, reconstruct their memories through books, music, and everyday conversations. Lasting approximately 50 minutes, the play invites reflection on the passage of time and emotional bonds.
Subsequently, at 7:30 PM, the book El teatro de José Saramago (The Theater of José Saramago), written by Asunción Muñoz Moreno, will be presented. The author, a Doctor of Philosophy and a professor with over three decades of experience, has dedicated recent years to an exhaustive study of the renowned writer's work.
The day will continue at 8:30 PM with a monologue based on the opening minutes of José Saramago's Nobel Prize in Literature acceptance speech in 1998. This fragment, rich in emotion and literary value, will offer a direct connection to the author's voice.
The event will conclude at 8:45 PM with a collective interpretation of Grândola, Vila Morena, an anthem symbolizing freedom and memory, paying tribute to the spirit of April 25th and the Carnation Revolution.
