The Basilica del Pino in Teror is showcasing the Virgen del Pino carving, a 16th-century artwork, without its traditional mantles or jewels until next Thursday, August 27th. This measure, following expert recommendations, allows the polychrome wooden piece to air out for better preservation, marking the only time of year it can be seen in its entirety. From August 28th onwards, the image will wear the Red Mantle for the Fiestas del Pino.
Concurrently, the Basilica of Teror is offering guided tours this week, from August 24th to 28th, through the Sacred Art Museum, the Basilica, and the Yellow Tower, led by expert historian Gustavo A. Trujillo.
The image of the Virgin can be viewed in the Basilica's camarín, via the Sacred Art Museum, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday August 24th to Thursday August 27th, with free admission. Additionally, from Tuesday August 25th to Friday August 28th, visiting hours for the Sacred Art Museum and the Virgin's carving are from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, with a fee of €2.50 for residents of the province of Las Palmas and €4 for general admission.
On Saturday, September 29th, there will be an open house at the Sacred Art Museum from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, with free entry.
Regarding guided tours, on Thursday August 27th and Friday August 28th, daytime tours of the Sacred Art Museum and Yellow Tower will be held at 12:00 PM for €10. Night tours of the Sacred Art Museum, Basilica, and Yellow Tower will take place on Tuesday August 25th, Wednesday August 26th, and Thursday August 27th at 8:00 PM, priced at €15.
