The City Council of the Villa de Firgas, in collaboration with the La Caja de Canarias Foundation, has launched a call for financial aid of up to 150 euros per beneficiary for the purchase of school supplies, books, uniforms, and computer equipment for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The Department of Social Services of the council, headed by Raquel Verónica Martel Guerra, has joined the 2026 School Aid Program of the La Caja de Canarias Foundation. The aim is to support families residing in the municipality who are experiencing urgent and severe need, and who have children under 17 years of age enrolled in Early Childhood Education, Primary, Secondary, Vocational Training (basic or intermediate level), or Baccalaureate, and who lack sufficient financial resources.
The main requirements to access this aid include being registered in the Municipality of the Villa de Firgas, having dependent children under 17 years of age enrolled in the aforementioned educational stages, and not having sufficient financial resources. The net monthly income of all members of the household will be considered, not exceeding the scale of the current monthly Public Index of Income for Multiple Effects (IPREM), according to the number of family members in the month prior to the application.
Certain items will not be counted as household income, such as non-periodic aid, family benefits for dependent children, study grants, scholarships, dependency system benefits, alimony or compensatory pensions, among others, provided they are duly documented.
The application period will be open from September 15 to October 9, 2026, inclusive. The granting of aid will depend on a favorable Technical Report issued by the Social Services Area, the chronological assessment of applications, and the availability of credit allocated by the La Caja de Canarias Foundation.
The final assessment of each case will correspond to the Municipal Social Services Technical Area. For more information and guidance, interested parties can contact the Municipal Social Services Center at 928.62.52.36/38 extension 2030, or visit the Ayuntamiento de Firgas website to download the application and necessary documentation.
