The Teror City Council has approved the awarding of the Gold Insignia to the Infantry Regiment «Canarias» nº 50, recognizing its historical trajectory and service to Canarian society.

Following its approval in the Plenary session last Thursday, August 27th, the distinction will be presented at an institutional ceremony on September 17th. On the same occasion, the Adoptive Son of Teror awards will be given to doctor Juan Antonio Hernández Navarro, and the Gold Insignias to the tradition of the Traída de los Arcos de Arbejales and the company Salcai-Utinsa (Global).
The Regiment will receive the Teror City Council's Insignia in a public ceremony to be held in the Plaza del Pino at 9:00 PM. This recognition is for its exemplary historical trajectory, its continuous service to Canarian society, its close ties with the Villa de Teror, and its contribution to strengthening the traditions and institutional identity of the municipality.
The relationship between the Regiment and the Villa de Teror holds deep historical, institutional, and symbolic significance, rooted in the shared devotion to Our Lady of the Pine, Patroness of the Diocese of the Canary Islands. For decades, the Unit has uninterruptedly participated in the main religious, military, and institutional events held for the Fiestas del Pino, reinforcing the institutional character of the celebrations.
Furthermore, the plenary session unanimously approved Teror's participation in a joint procurement initiative led by the Mancomunidad de Ayuntamientos del Norte de Gran Canaria. This project aims to implement, migrate, and maintain cloud-based municipal IT solutions. The contract will initially last twenty-four months, with potential extensions up to December 31st, 2030. The City Council will participate in lots 1, 2, and 3, covering financial and accounting management.
