Teror Celebrates Fiestas del Pino with Thousands of Attendees

The town of Teror came alive during the second weekend of September, from the 11th to the 13th, with the celebration of the Fiestas del Pino. Thousands of people attended the various events, notably the pilgrimage and the festivities of the 'Día de las Marías' on Sunday, September 13th.
On Friday, September 11th, the Parque de Sintes hosted the third ‘Tardeo del Pino’ featuring the group ‘Tata Band’, which drew a large audience in a relaxed atmosphere. That night, the Festival Teresa de Bolívar presented musicians Joaquín Sánchez and Adán Moreno, followed by a concert by Katie James accompanied by guitarist Sergio Portales. The evening concluded with the show ‘Mis cumbias más íntimas’ by Ángeles Pérez and entertainment by Dj Renzzo.
Saturday, September 12th, was an intense day for visitors and pilgrims. Highlights included the traditional pilgrimages from Valleseco, Arbejales, the Asociación Tasate recreating the offering from Tamaraceite by artist Jesús Arencibia (1953), and the hiking group ‘Borbullón’. They were welcomed by the mayor of Teror, José Agustín Arencibia, and the deputy mayor, Sergio Nuez.
The II Romería del timple gathered many lovers of this Canarian instrument, marking the opening of the second day of the 37th Teresa de Bolívar Music Encounter. The night continued at the Plaza de Sintes with performances by the Canarian quartet ContraVentura and Mexican singer Lila Downs. Afterwards, a tribute to Melendi was offered by the group Melendiers, followed by a verbena with the Grupo Bakano.
Sunday, September 13th, was marked by the celebration of the 'Día de las Marías', enlivened by the Verbena del Solajero with musical performances by ‘Los merengues de los 80-90’, Las Ladys del Swing, and Star Music. The Homage Mass of the Bar Association took place at 13:00 hours in the Basilica, as is tradition. Religious acts concluded with a solemn Eucharist presided over by Bishop José Mazuelos, a procession, and fireworks.
