The Department of Secretariat and Municipal Archive of the Teror City Council, led by councilwoman Sabina Estévez, has integrated the boarding licenses issued in Teror between 1853 and 1922 into the Government of the Canary Islands' digital platform, eSPERiA. Following technical digitization work, these valuable documentary funds are now available for direct, free, and open access on the platform.
“"We are taking a firm step in preserving and disseminating documentary heritage, facilitating access for citizens, especially those seeking to reconstruct their family history. We are opening our archive to the world, ensuring its conservation and bringing it closer to new technologies."
This initiative represents a significant advancement in accessing the municipality's documentary heritage. It addresses the growing demand from descendants of Canarian emigrants who seek this documentation for genealogical studies, reconstructing family origins, or processing administrative procedures.
The project aligns with the ongoing strategy to modernize the Municipal Archive. The Department has previously promoted the digitization of other key documentary collections, such as the population registration books (1848–1950 and 1965) and the municipal plenary minutes (1837–2001), which are already published.
These efforts notably expand the volume of accessible documentation, contributing to a better understanding of Teror's historical, social, and institutional evolution.
