The island institution has formally demanded the repayment of these public funds, including accrued interest. The measure affects infrastructure and neighborhood improvement projects that were not completed during the previous term, leaving files unjustified ranging from 2% to 92% of the total amount granted.
Among the affected actions, the expansion of the Town Hall stands out, a project that did not go beyond the initial phase despite the commitments made. According to technical reports, the lack of management of these files has caused the Cabildo de Gran Canaria to block new budget items for the municipality, in compliance with the General Subsidies Law.

The current municipal government is working on regularizing these accounts to release the withheld funds, which include 400,000 euros earmarked for the Neighborhood Plan. The local administration holds biweekly meetings with the Institutional Cooperation department of the Cabildo to expedite the repayment process and restore investment capacity in the municipality.
