Buenavista del Norte is hosting the VI TERRAE Conference, themed “Visits that care for territories.” The event, with over 70 registered participants, will primarily take place on September 18th and 19th and will feature more than 20 projects and experiences from various regions across Spain.
The main objective of these conferences is to reflect on how visits (touristic, professional, educational, or exchange-based) can contribute to keeping the territories they visit alive. The aim is to strengthen local agriculture and livestock farming, promote short circuits for local product consumption, generate economic opportunities, and recognize those who maintain rural landscapes, while integrating conservation and the decision-making capacity of local communities.
The mayor of Buenavista del Norte, Eva García, and the president of the Intermunicipal Association Red TERRAE, Francisco García, presented the event. García emphasized the opportunity to hold these conferences in a municipality where agricultural activity, natural spaces, and heritage are closely linked, seeking development that respects the territory's uniqueness.
A central element will be the Poster Space, a knowledge exchange tool where the more than twenty experiences related to municipal agroecology, land access, local production, and rural revitalization will be presented. These works will be added to the Red TERRAE knowledge repository.
The program combines debate and participatory work with practical field experiences. It includes round tables, workshops, guided visits to Punta de Teno, the Farmer and Artisan Market, the ecological farm La Econtenta, and the Agroecological Taste Laboratory, concluding with an interpretative visit in El Palmar and traditional cultural manifestations.
The conferences bring together public officials, technicians, producers, researchers, and entities linked to rural development, fostering the exchange of experiences between territories with diverse realities. They are organized by the Ayuntamiento de Buenavista del Norte and the Asociación Intermunicipal Red TERRAE, with the support of the DINAMIZA RURAL program.
