On May 9, the Guillermo González Municipal Music School of La Laguna participated in an inter-center project promoting educational exchange and community instrumental and vocal practice. This initiative brought together students and teachers from La Laguna with the Valle Gran Rey Music School and the Daute-Isla Baja Regional Music School.
The activity is part of the IX Exhibition of Music and Dance Schools of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (EMYD), organized by the CajaCanarias Foundation. The concert took place at the CajaCanarias Cultural Space in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, gathering over 55 young performers.
The musicians, forming an ensemble that combined an instrumental band and a white voices choir, presented a repertoire focused on film soundtracks. This choice aims to connect with diverse audiences, especially families and young people, through melodies associated with shared memory and the emotion of cinema.
“"These types of training projects foster the exchange of experiences, common learning, and the improvement of educational quality in the centers."
The show also included narration, audiovisual projections, and solo interventions, creating a dynamic and immersive format. The goal was to bring the audience closer to the creative process and the work developed by the students, highlighting the contemporary vision of collective musical practice that merges tradition and modernity.
A representative from the Culture department of the La Laguna city council emphasized the importance of these projects for experience exchange and educational improvement. They also highlighted the cross-cutting work of the La Laguna Municipal Music School, which offers high-level training from its headquarters on Nava y Grimón street.
