Under the slogan ‘Tourism and sustainable transformation. Travel today, transform tomorrow’, the initiative aims to showcase the tourist offerings and distinctive elements of El Hierro to residents and visitors. The inaugural event will be held on Saturday, September 26, in La Restinga, and on Sunday, activities will move to the Benito Padrón square in La Frontera.
In La Restinga, a tourism promotion stand will be set up on La Avenida. Information about the island, its points of interest, tourism companies, and activities will be provided. The exhibition will include typical products such as 'quesadillas' and pineapples, as well as promotional videos focusing on El Hierro's landscapes, products, and services.
“"World Tourism Day is an opportunity to highlight our products, our landscapes, and everything we have to offer. We want to use this date to give visibility to what is ours and bring visitors closer to a part of our identity, through our products and our tourist resources."
The Councilor for Tourism, Magaly Gónzalez, emphasized the importance of this date for showcasing the island's identity. For his part, the mayor of El Pinar, Juan Miguel Padron Brito, highlighted the significance of tourism as an economic driver, always from a responsible perspective. 'In El Pinar, we have always understood that our visitors come for our scenic richness, respect for the environment, and tranquility, values that we must continue to maintain,' he stated.
This initiative is promoted by the Center for Tourism Initiatives of El Hierro (CIT El Hierro) and has the collaboration of the El Pinar de El Hierro City Council, the La Frontera City Council, the Cabildo de El Hierro, and the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Ministry of Tourism and Employment. Sponsors Cajasiete, Transhierro, and Viajes Insular also participate.
Through these events, El Pinar joins the global commemoration, focusing on the elements that define the destination: its landscapes, products, and traditions.
