The Directorate General of Blood Donation and Hemotherapy of the Canary Health Service (SCS) has launched a blood donation campaign on the island of El Hierro, which will tour the municipalities of La Frontera, El Pinar, and Valverde to facilitate citizen participation and boost reserves during the summer.

The initiative aims to bring this act of solidarity closer to residents and visitors, especially during the summer period when blood demand typically increases. The mobile unit will travel to different locations to ensure access to donation.
Today and tomorrow, the campaign will be held in La Frontera, on Tigaday street, from 4:15 PM to 9:15 PM. On Wednesday, the extraction team will set up in La Restinga, in the municipality of El Pinar, specifically on the Avenida Marítima, serving donors between 4:15 PM and 8:30 PM.
Subsequently, on July 16 and 17, the mobile unit will visit Valverde, located in Plaza Santiago. On Thursday, the hours will be from 3:45 PM to 9:00 PM, and on Friday from 8:45 AM to 12:15 PM.
The SCS emphasizes the importance of maintaining a constant flow of donations during the summer months to ensure the supply to hospitals in the archipelago. All individuals who meet the requirements are encouraged to participate in this campaign.
In addition to the mobile unit, the Hospital Insular Nuestra Señora de los Reyes in Valverde has a fixed extraction point. Donations at the hospital are made on Mondays from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, except on holidays. For more information or to schedule an appointment, you can call 690 886 059, Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
The basic requirements to donate blood include being between 18 and 65 years old (up to sixty for a first-time donation), weighing more than 50 kilograms, being in generally good health, and not being pregnant.
