On the occasion of World Tourism Day, the Biosphere Reserve of El Hierro participated in two professional meetings on the island to analyze the present and future of the tourism sector.

On September 27, the Biosphere Reserve attended the workshop “New Trends, New Challenges”, organized by TransHierro. This event, held at its headquarters, served to share experiences and reflect on new ways of understanding and enjoying tourism, exploring trends such as ecotourism, astrotourism, and ethnography.
During this meeting, the importance of El Hierro's natural, cultural, and heritage resources was highlighted as pillars for tourism intrinsically linked to the territory and the island's identity.
Subsequently, on September 29, the Biosphere Reserve took part in the professional workshop “El Hierro Regenerates: Know · Care · Give Back”. This initiative was organized by the Tourism Department of the Cabildo of El Hierro and took place at the Auditorium of La Peña.
The “El Hierro Regenerates” workshop was conceived as a space for work and exchange focused on the evolution of the tourist destination, ongoing projects, new sectoral opportunities, and the main challenges facing the island.
Participation in both workshops allowed for the acquisition of knowledge and experiences from diverse perspectives, fostering dialogue and the creation of synergies among the various stakeholders in the tourism sector. These events contribute to advancing towards a sustainable tourism model, connected with the territory and respectful of the natural, cultural, and social values that define El Hierro, in line with the principles of the Biosphere Reserve.
