This initiative, part of the Canary Islands-State Road Agreement, covered an area of more than 17,400 square meters. The false tunnel extends for approximately 250 meters within a 450-meter intervention area, and includes two three-meter-wide lanes and a walkable sidewalk.
From a constructive perspective, the structure was built using 58 pillars, 46 T-beams, 12 L-beams, and over 2,000 square meters of alveolar slabs. Additionally, a reinforced soil wall spanning 1,392 square meters was erected to ensure the overall stability.
“"The completion of this work represents a decisive step forward in protecting users from rockfalls at this point, ensuring safer circulation without compromising the island's connectivity."
During the institutional visit, progress on the organization works for the docks at La Restinga port, in the municipality of El Pinar, was also reviewed. This project, with a budget of 1.77 million euros, is 60% complete and is expected to be operational this summer.
The intervention in La Restinga will reorganize berths by activity type, increasing the port's capacity from 63 to 160 berths, and will incorporate new water and electricity supply towers on each dock. Furthermore, the contract for the design and execution of a self-consumption photovoltaic installation at the port has been awarded, with an investment of 222,887.82 euros, in line with Puertos Canarios' sustainability strategy to establish La Restinga as one of the archipelago's first eco-ports.
