Nursing Conference in El Hierro Addresses Healthcare Improvement

The Canary Islands Government's Ministry of Health is holding the I Herreñas Nursing Conference in El Hierro to discuss population care and propose health service enhancements.

The I Herreñas Nursing Conference, taking place today and tomorrow, Saturday, in El Hierro under the theme ‘Nursing Care in Singular Territories and Changing Environments’, aims to analyze the population's care needs and propose improvements in the island's healthcare.
The opening ceremony included Pilar Mora, Director of the El Hierro Health Area; Natalia Rodríguez, President of the Official College of Nursing of Santa Cruz de Tenerife; Jéssica Acosta, Manager of the Health Services of the El Hierro Health Area; and Jorge Elías Silva, President of the Conference.
Pilar Mora highlighted the importance of such meetings for exchanging experiences and reflecting on how to improve care. Meanwhile, Jéssica Acosta thanked the organizing and scientific committee members for their involvement, as well as the attendees and speakers for their participation.
The inaugural day featured the keynote speech ‘Caring on the Periphery, Leading at the Center’, by nurse José Ángel Rodríguez Gómez, and the panel ‘Care Strategies in Singular Scenarios’, moderated by Jéssica Acosta, which included talks by nurses working on the island.
Saturday's session, the 3rd, will begin with oral communications followed by the panel ‘Innovation in Nursing Care and Transformation of Nursing Practice’. This session will analyze the relationship between physical exercise, artificial intelligence, and nursing practice. María Vázquez, Coordinator of Specialized Care Nursing for the island's health management, will moderate.
The final thematic block, ‘Urgent Care in El Hierro: Local Challenges and Shared Perspectives’, will examine hospital and pre-hospital emergencies, as well as the migrant care team on the island. Inés Quintero, Director of the El Hierro Health Services Management, will moderate this panel.
