Arrecife City Council is progressing with its Fourth Municipal Resurfacing Plan, aiming to renew up to 600 streets in the municipality, now focusing on Vía Medular to finish before the Christmas shopping season.

Arrecife City Council, under the leadership of Mayor Yonathan de León, continues with its ambitious asphalt and urban improvement plan. The Fourth Municipal Resurfacing Plan, directly funded by the council, is renewing up to 600 streets in the municipality. Recently, asphalt pavement renewal work was completed on Avenida Fred Olsen, between Guenia street and the Theme Park, and adjacent streets to the Bus Interchange.
This weekend, including Sunday, October 25, the works will concentrate on resurfacing the roundabout near the Theme Park, the Reducto esplanade, the headquarters of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, and the Bus Interchange. To minimize traffic disruption, work on Vía Medular, a key artery in Lanzarote's capital, will be carried out on Sundays.
The objective is to complete a large part of Vía Medular before the start of the Christmas shopping season in late November. This road is crucial for the capital's mobility and provides access to neighborhoods such as Las Salinas, San Francisco Javier, La Vega, Titerroy, El Lomo, Altavista, Valterra, Los Alonso, and Puerto de Naos. It hosts important centers including shopping centers, the Island Library, the El Salinero Island Theater, the Lanzarote Sports City, and the National Police Station.
The asphalt and urban improvement plan aims to renew pavements, enhance mobility, and reinforce road safety on all streets in Arrecife's neighborhoods. To date, approximately 400 streets have had their pavements renewed, with the goal of completing the planned 600. Works have already benefited neighborhoods like Las Salinas, La Destila, Argana Baja, La Vega, El Lomo, the city center, Valterra, Altavista, Titerroy, Puerto de Naos, Tahiche Chico, and sectors of El Charco, Maneje, Argana Alta, Titerroy, El Cable, and La Concha. Work is also planned for streets in Argana Alta, Tinasoria, and Maneje.
