The Department of Public Works of Arrecife has initiated asphalt renewal works on several city streets, as part of the Fourth Phase of the Municipal Resurfacing Plan. These actions, with a total investment of 1.2 million euros, are being carried out to minimize disruptions to the restaurant sector in Charco de San Ginés.
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has personally supervised the works on Gobernador García Hernández street, a vital route connecting the industrial area of Puerto de Naos, the Fisheries School, and the residential areas of Valterra. This street becomes the 400th to be fully resurfaced during the current municipal term, which runs from July 2023 to autumn 2026.
Following the summer season, the City Council, in coordination with the contracting company, is resurfacing Juan de Quesada street, which serves Charco de San Ginés, La Mercedes street, and the aforementioned Gobernador García Hernández. The planning aims to affect hospitality establishments and local residents as little as possible.
Since May, works have been completed in neighborhoods such as Valterra, Tahiche Chico, the upper area of El Lomo, and streets near the schools Adolfo Topham and Nieves Toledo. These actions add to the 400 streets already renovated in various neighborhoods of Arrecife since July 2023.
Additionally, the resurfacing of Jacinto Borges street, adjacent to Charco de San Ginés, is planned. Previously, underground works were carried out for the installation of the rainwater drainage system, which also included repairs to the sewage and potable water networks.
