The plenary session of the Arrecife City Council gave the green light this Friday to a budget modification that will allow the incorporation of 36.8 million euros from reserves. These funds will be used to increase allocations for investments and public services, raising the annual budget for 2026 to 126.8 million euros.
The measure, promoted by Mayor Yonathan de León, head of the Budget Management Unit, aims primarily to sponsor works in the capital's various neighborhoods and strengthen essential public services. According to the local government, the goal is for municipal funds to translate into visible improvements for citizens and contribute to the city's transformation.
The first tenders for these actions are expected to begin taking shape during the summer, with the aim of being awarded and contracted in the second half of the year. These initiatives will be carried out independently of those sponsored by the Cabildo in the capital's neighborhoods.
Among the planned actions are the comprehensive transformation of Manolo Millares street and the future renovation of Triana street. Additionally, improvements are planned for Valterra, investments in the Argana Alta neighborhood, the creation of new playgrounds, and upgrades to sports facilities in various parts of the city. The reinforcement of street cleaning, waste collection, as well as actions in security and civil protection, are also listed as priorities in this economic plan.
