The Arrecife City Council has announced that forecasts from the Port Authority of Las Palmas (APLP) indicate the city will surpass the 700,000 cruise passenger mark in 2026, consolidating its growth.

The capital's council has emphasized the "great momentum" the city is experiencing as a cruise destination, a success that, according to mayor Yonathan de León, "reflects that the actions undertaken during this term are bearing fruit".
One of the key factors for this increase in passengers is securing Lanzarote as a homeport for shipping companies operating in Canarian waters.
Data from the first four months of 2026 supports this upward trend: the Port of Arrecife received 394,086 passengers, representing an 18.57% increase compared to the same period last year, when 332,363 cruise passengers were recorded.
The City Council underscores the importance of cruise tourism for the local economy, as it "underpins" the municipality, benefiting "many shops and hospitality businesses" that see increased revenue during the peak cruise season.
