The Port of Arrecife has welcomed 394,086 cruise passengers in the first four months of 2026, marking an 18.57% increase compared to the previous year.

The Port of Arrecife, located in Lanzarote, has received a total of 394,086 passengers during the first four months of 2026. This figure represents an 18.57% increase compared to the same period last year, when 332,363 cruise passengers arrived.
Mayor Yonathan de León highlighted this "great boost" as a cruise tourism destination, demonstrating the effectiveness of current mandate initiatives. He attributed part of the success to securing Lanzarote as a homeport for shipping companies operating in Canarian waters.
Forecasts from the Port Authority of Las Palmas suggest that Arrecife could exceed 700,000 cruise passengers by the end of 2026. The City Council emphasizes the importance of cruise tourism for the local economy, benefiting numerous shops and hospitality businesses.
This growth contrasts with the approach of other port destinations such as Barcelona, Amsterdam, Venice, Palma de Mallorca, and Vigo, which are implementing limits and conditions on this type of tourism to manage overcrowding and pollution.
