The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when the vehicle collided with one of the fences on the LZ-2, past the El Cable urbanization and close to Arrecife. The two occupants of the car did not appear to have suffered serious injuries.
The Consorcio de Seguridad y Emergencias del Cabildo (Security and Emergency Consortium of the Island Council) was alerted around 1:30 AM by the Local Police of Arrecife. Officers reported a vehicle leaving the roadway and the possibility of trapped individuals.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the vehicle's front end practically destroyed after the impact with the fence. The Local Police secured the area while personnel from the Servicio de Urgencias Canario (SUC) (Canary Islands Emergency Service) attended to the occupants.
Firefighters proceeded to clear the car debris from the road to prevent further accidents and disconnected the vehicle's battery. They later assisted the tow truck in removing the wrecked car.
