The Parque José Ramírez Cerdá in Arrecife vibrated this Wednesday with a musical journey through several decades of Spanish popular song thanks to the performance by El Consorcio. The concert, part of the San Ginés Festivities program, was organized by the Department of Seniors of the Arrecife City Council and gathered attendees from different generations, united by melodies that are part of the collective memory.
The group, led by Estíbaliz Uranga and Iñaki Uranga, presented its most recognized songs in the Lanzarote capital. The performance combined hits that have stood the test of time with the presence on stage of musicians representing significant stages of vocal music in Spain. Allende Blanco Uranga, daughter of Sergio and Estíbaliz, added a generational component, reinforcing the group's historical link with Mocedades.
The ability of certain songs to remain present over the years is remarkable.
During the recital, classics such as Tómame o déjame, Amor de hombre, Eres tú, and Dónde estás corazón were played, alongside other titles like El chacachá del tren and Secretaria. These songs, some popular decades ago, demonstrated their relevance by being recognized by audiences of different ages, beyond mere nostalgia.
The connection with the history of Mocedades, a key group in Spanish vocal music, was palpable. Mocedades' participation in the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest with Eres tú, which achieved second place and significant international success, was a remembered milestone. The song sold millions of copies and became a benchmark in Spanish music.
The performance was part of the program for the 2026 San Ginés Festivities, one of Arrecife's most important celebrations. The Department of Seniors, under the direction of Rosmen Quevedo, promoted this activity as part of a diverse offering for different population sectors. The presentation was handled by Francisco José Navarro, with overall festival coordination by deputy mayor Echedey Eugenio.
