The inaugural Guanches Warriors Championship has concluded with a notable turnout at the recently reopened Argana Sports Pavilion in Arrecife. The venue was at full capacity for this mixed martial arts event, establishing itself as a prime location for major sporting occasions.
Spearheaded by local fighter Hecher Sosa and supported by the Arrecife City Council, the event featured eleven bouts: four amateur and seven professional. Its aim was to foster and increase the visibility of MMA talent from Arrecife, Lanzarote, and the wider Canary Islands.
The fight card also included two women's bouts, showcasing prominent athletes such as world champion Isabel Calvo and Carolan Olivares, a finalist on the program The Ultimate Warrior.

Yonathan de León, Mayor of Arrecife, who attended the event, praised the public's response and congratulated Hecher Sosa on organizing the championship. He highlighted that the full house confirmed the Argana Pavilion's suitability for hosting significant sporting events.
De León also emphasized the reopening of the sports facility, which had been closed for 13 years, noting that it now operates in compliance with all legal and safety regulations for large-capacity venues.
Eli Merino, the Councilor for Sports, reaffirmed the council's commitment to supporting sporting events and the athletes, clubs, and coaches involved in martial arts.
The Arrecife City Council has stated its ongoing dedication to backing initiatives that promote sports and recognize the efforts of athletes from the capital, Lanzarote, and the rest of the Canary Islands.
