The island of Lanzarote has surpassed the 79,000 Social Security affiliate threshold for the first time, reaching a total of 79,125 registered individuals by the end of May.

Official statistics, finalized at the close of last May, confirm that the island has achieved an unprecedented number of contributors. This milestone is reflected in five municipalities that have reached their all-time high in affiliations.
Arrecife stands out as the primary driver of this growth, adding 33,545 registrations and setting a new record for the capital. In contrast, Haría shows a decline in its figures, registering 2,465 affiliations.
Other municipalities that have reached historic levels include Teguise, with 11,200 registrations; San Bartolomé, with 9,760 inscriptions; Tías, with 9,515 entries; and Tinajo, which adds 3,460 contributors. Meanwhile, Yaiza has 9,180 registered individuals, a figure lower than that recorded in February.
According to estimates based on data from the Canarian Institute of Statistics (Istac) and provided by the Cabildo's Data Center, approximately 66,640 affiliates are in dependent employment, while about 12,670 are self-employed.
The services sector accounts for the largest accumulation of registrations, aligning with the general trend of the economy in Lanzarote and La Graciosa. Agriculture, conversely, represents the opposite end in terms of employment evolution.
