The San Bartolomé City Council has officially established its Children's Council, a participatory body comprising 21 primary school students from various educational centers in the municipality.

This new council's primary objective is to give children a voice in local public life, allowing minors to convey their concerns and proposals to the municipal corporation. The selection process for the 21 delegates involved 196 schoolchildren, who reflected on their environment's needs and exercised their right to vote.
The project's methodology relies on playful dynamics, creative workshops, and dialogue spaces. Through these activities, the Council members will analyze the municipality's reality, identify challenges, and present proposals to the City Council for consideration. The initiative also seeks to involve families, the educational community, and the general public in creating an environment more respectful of children's rights.

"Child participation is a fundamental tool for building a fairer municipality that is adapted to the real needs of our children. Listening to them, giving them a voice, and making them participants in decisions affecting their environment is a responsibility we embrace with conviction."

Isidro Pérez · Mayor of San Bartolomé
Mayor Isidro Pérez emphasized that this Council represents an opportunity for young people to learn democratic values and co-responsibility, while also helping to improve San Bartolomé with their vision and creativity.

"This project is the result of the joint work carried out throughout the school year between the City Council, educational centers, and the students, who have shown enormous involvement and interest in contributing ideas to improve their municipality."

Estefanía Luzardo · Education Councilor of San Bartolomé
For her part, Education Councilor Estefanía Luzardo highlighted the involvement of the 196 participating students, noting that the 21 elected representatives will act as a direct bridge between children and the City Council, conveying concerns and needs.
By launching this Council, the San Bartolomé City Council reaffirms its commitment to citizen participation, education in democratic values, and the promotion of child-centered public policies.
