The Cabildo of Fuerteventura will hold an event on October 14th in Betancuria to honor six women from Fuerteventura's rural community, recognizing their role in the primary sector.

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through its Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, will commemorate Rural Women's Day with a special event. The ceremony will take place next Wednesday, October 14th, starting at 7:00 PM, in the auditorium of the Archaeological Museum of Fuerteventura, located in Betancuria.
Through this initiative, the island corporation aims to highlight the fundamental role women play in sustaining Fuerteventura's primary sector, a cornerstone of the island's identity.
The contributions of six distinguished women will be recognized: Carmen Delia Suárez (Tuineje), María Jesús Rodríguez Vera (Puerto del Rosario), Teresa del Pino Hernández Ramos (Pájara), Margot Robayna Alonso (Betancuria), Asunción Alonso Viera (La Oliva), and Alicia Martínez (Antigua). These women represent and value the contributions of all rural women in Fuerteventura.
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura invites the public to attend this free-access event, which will feature musical performances. The celebration is part of the International Rural Women's Day, observed annually on October 15th.
