The vessel was detected by the coastal surveillance radar (SIVE) at 6:42 AM as it approached the island, approximately 24 kilometers from Caleta de Fuste. The rescue boat Salvamar Ízar responded and escorted the fishing boat to the port of Gran Tarajal without incident.
Currently, investigations are underway to determine if the vessel, identified as 'Aali', is a fishing boat reported stolen in El Aaiún. If confirmed, this would be the fourth case of a 'fishing boat patera' arriving in the Canary Islands in the past year after being stolen from its home port.
Previous incidents occurred in 2025: on June 28, eleven Moroccan men were rescued 100 kilometers from Lanzarote after being left adrift in a fishing boat stolen from Agadir (Morocco). Subsequently, on June 18 and September 10, two other fishing boats arrived in Lanzarote, one at the port of Arrecife and another that ran aground and caught fire off the coast of Órzola.
