The camp, hosted this year at the Tefía Youth Hostel managed by the Youth Department of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, welcomes minors aged between 8 and 18. These children, divided into two groups across consecutive sessions, enjoy various recreational activities both inside and outside the hostel, accompanied by Foundation professionals and animation staff.
The main objective of the camp, as explained by the president of Fundación Canaria Pequeño Valiente, José Jérez, is to create a space for relaxation, fun, and peer interaction for children affected by childhood cancer and their siblings.
Scheduled activities include the release of turtles, organized by the Cabildo's Department of Environment, a visit to Oasis Park, traditional games, first aid workshops, and aquatic activities at Puerto Castillo.
The president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola García, expressed her pride in having a foundation like Pequeño Valiente in the Canary Islands. She highlighted the Cabildo's support, through the Social Action area, for their initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for minors and their families, offering social and psychological support.
The presentation event was also attended by the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera; the mayor of Betancuria, Enrique Cerdeña; the insular director of Social Action for the Cabildo of Tenerife, Yolanda Baumgartner; councilwomen Jennifer Pérez (Puerto del Rosario) and Joana Pérez (La Oliva); as well as councilor Marlene Figuera and other authorities.
This initiative is supported by the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, the Cabildo of Tenerife, various municipalities, and other collaborating entities such as Tirma, Bandama, Cumba, and Supermercados Padilla.
