Fuerteventura will host a pre-season official match between two teams from the Spanish Women's First Division for the first time. The game, scheduled for 6:15 PM, will have free entry and be broadcast by Televisión Canaria.
This initiative, driven by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura with collaboration from the Ayuntamiento de Puerto del Rosario, aims to attract top-tier sporting events, promote women's sports, and bring professional football role models closer to the public, especially young athletes on the island.
The president of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Lola García, expressed satisfaction in placing the island on the national women's football map and bringing elite sports closer to the population, aiming to inspire girls and young athletes.
Sports counselor Luis González highlighted that the match supports the growth of women's sports and diversifies the island's sports offerings, inviting fans to enjoy the spectacle.
In addition to the match, the presence of CD Tenerife Costa Adeje will facilitate a free clinic for female footballers aged 10 to 16 on July 30th and 31st at the football field in El Cotillo. The activity, organized by the Fundación Canaria CD Tenerife, will have a maximum of 40 spots and include training sessions, sportswear, a welcome kit, diploma, and medal.
Collaborating in this training initiative are the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, the Government of the Canary Islands, Coral Hotels, the Fundación Canaria de la Federación Interinsular de Fútbol de Las Palmas, and the Ayuntamiento de La Oliva. Registrations are now open through the Fundación Tenerife Costa Adeje.
