The celebration kicks off this Wednesday, May 20, with the presentation of D.A.R.Y.L, an artificial intelligence virtual assistant. This tool, part of the LegacIA project by the Canarian Agency for Research, Innovation, and Information Society (ACIISI) and the Canary Museum, aims to highlight the Majos heritage and foster cultural tourism.
On Thursday, May 21, at 7:00 PM, a new session of the Majos Cultural Cycle will take place. Titled 'The funerary world and religiosity of the Majos culture,' archaeologists Nona Perera and Verónica Alberto, moderated by journalist María Valerón, will discuss aspects of funerary culture. Admission is free until capacity is reached.
On Friday, May 22, starting at 7:00 PM, a tour of the museum's halls titled ‘Written in Stone’ will be held. This activity will focus on Libyco-Berber inscriptions found in Fuerteventura and will include the presentation of the book The Death of the Guanche Language. Linguistic Substitution Process in the Canary Islands (15th-17th Centuries) by Rumén Sosa Martín.
Activities for families will begin on Saturday, May 23, with Archaeological Mission. Family Adventure at MAF. At 11:00 AM, a children's workshop on Canarian intelligence games will be held, followed at 12:00 PM by a theatricalized route. Pre-registration for the latter is required at [[email protected]].
Additionally, educational workshops for schools have been organized, taking place from May 18 to 22 in coordination with the rural schools of CER Fuerteventura.
These initiatives are part of the ‘Mayo 100% Canarias’ program, organized by the Department of Culture of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, aiming to highlight Canarian traditions, artistic expressions, and creators.
