The renovation and accessibility works at the Industry, Classified Activities, Commerce, and Crafts departments, located on Calle Juan Domínguez Peña in Puerto del Rosario, have been completed. These facilities are now operational again after an intervention aimed at improving working conditions for staff and citizen services.
The project, driven by the Department of Industry, involved an investment of 279,927.16 euros. The goal was to modernize a building with structural deficiencies, accessibility issues, and insufficient space for the service's current needs.
The Minister of Industry, Lolina Negrín, highlighted that the intervention ensures the safety and quality of the service, providing renewed, accessible, and adapted facilities. "The renovation allows us to have larger and more functional spaces for the staff and improve the service received by users," she stated.
The works, which began on April 1, 2025, required the temporary relocation of staff to the Fuerteventura Technology Park to ensure service continuity.
The renovation included relocating the main entrance to eliminate architectural barriers, adapting restrooms for universal accessibility, and reorganizing interior spaces. Existing courtyards were utilized to create a new meeting room, an office, a break area, and an archive.
Additionally, the electric vehicle charging point has been moved outdoors, adjacent to the official parking spaces, improving its accessibility and functionality.
The building, owned by the Cabildo since 1949, had significant structural and layout problems that limited administrative activity. The renovation has resolved these deficiencies, adapted the facilities to current accessibility regulations, and equipped the building with larger, safer, and more functional spaces to meet present and future service needs.
