The Plenary of the insular Corporation approved in an extraordinary session the incorporation of these funds, which will be allocated to increasing aid for social groups, educational scholarships, the primary sector, commerce, and other areas deemed fundamental for the population of Fuerteventura.
The president of the Cabildo, Lola García, highlighted the budgetary effort approved by the plenary, which will allow the institution to "continue working and promoting actions for the well-being of people, support for our youth, and sectors that generate the economy such as the primary sector or commerce".
For her part, the Minister of Finance, Nuria Cabrera, emphasized the importance of "directing investment towards the demands of the population, increasing funding for the various sectors".
Aid for the third sector, from the Social Action area, increases to 1.8 million euros. Funding is allocated to public calls in Education for the 2026/2027 academic year and the Insular Youth Plan. Scholarships for studies reach almost 3.5 million euros, bringing the total investment in this area to around 7.6 million euros in 2026. Additionally, 215,000 euros will be allocated to improvements at the Insular Youth Center, the Insular Music School, and the Tefía Hostel.
Fuerteventura's primary sector will receive reinforcement. Part of the approved funding is allocated to increasing aid line 13, which supports investments in agricultural, livestock, and fishing operations, within this year's subsidy call amounting to 2.5 million euros.
A total of 2.4 million euros will be allocated to increasing general aid for Culture and promoting cultural programming across the island. An additional 38,840.92 euros will cover necessary investment actions for cultural spaces distributed throughout the municipalities. Funding is also provided for activities and maintenance of the Archaeological Museum of Fuerteventura and the protection of archaeological excavations on the Islote de Lobos.
The investment will also boost the 'Yo compro en Fuerteventura' commerce voucher with 400,000 euros, in addition to the 'enRedArte' project from the Crafts area and training activities by Fuerteventura Film Commission to further professionalize the sector and diversify the island's economy.
