These surpluses, approved in an extraordinary Plenary session, will be directed to these and other priority areas. Insular president, Lola García, highlighted the budgetary effort to “continue promoting actions to protect our territory, move towards energy efficiency, and care for the well-being of the people who live here and essential services”.
For her part, the Minister of Finance, Nuria Cabrera, emphasized the importance of directing investments to priority areas so that Fuerteventura becomes a more sustainable and better-cared-for island. A total of 600,000 euros will be allocated to actions related to waste management, cleaning, and environmental maintenance.
Likewise, aid to support self-consumption in homes, the acquisition of electric vehicles, and self-consumption in businesses and SMEs, granted by the Ministry of Industry, is increased by 351,281.92 euros.
Part of the funding is also allocated to the project for installing photovoltaic lighting on the promenade of Puerto del Rosario, as part of the actions carried out by the Ministry of Tourism to ensure a more sustainable destination.
In the case of hydraulic infrastructure, 652,766.22 euros will be directed to actions by the Consortium of Water Supply for Fuerteventura (CAAF), such as the replacement of distribution networks in areas of Tetir and the renovation of the photovoltaic roof of the CAAF warehouse, both actions in Puerto del Rosario.
The Security and Emergencies sector also receives strengthening, with 200,000 euros allocated to reinforce the Insular Operational Coordination Center (CECOPIN), the operational and coordination body of the Insular Emergency Plan (PEIN).
