The municipality of Antigua is preparing to host the sixth edition of the adult oral storytelling project, El Candil de Cuentos. This event, directed by artist Gemma G, has established itself as a benchmark cultural appointment in Fuerteventura, attracting audiences from across the island.
The program will run for the five Fridays of October, offering a magical setting enhanced by traditional oil lamps (candiles). The El Portón Municipal Library will serve as the ideal venue for these sessions.

Juan Cabrera, the mayor of Antigua, emphasized the importance of supporting cultural events like this for citizens' enjoyment and their role as an island reference.
For his part, the Councilor for Culture, Agustín Rodríguez, recalled that Antigua was a pioneer in such events at the insular level. He invited the public to participate in the five storytelling sessions and the five literary creation workshops to be held on Thursdays.

The event's director, Gemma G, announced that the sixth edition features a stellar lineup. The opening on October 2nd will feature renowned Mexican storyteller Martha Escudero with her show 'Cuando te hablen de amor' (When they speak to you of love). This will be followed by Diego Reinfeld on October 9th with 'Miedo por andar por casa' (Fear of staying home), and Yudeina Santana on October 16th with 'La mejor escuela' (The best school). The cycle will continue on October 23rd with Samantha Moreno and her tales from the Wild West, concluding on October 30th with Figu García and 'Poesía entre candiles' (Poetry among oil lamps).
Gemma G also explained the workshop 'Fuerteventura entre renglones' (Fuerteventura between the lines), focused on creating short stories and connecting them with photography of the island. This workshop aims to unite word and image to discover Fuerteventura through creativity, diverse perspectives, and the participants' hearts. Additionally, a creative writing workshop will be offered, exploring the relationship between art and nature, focusing on the territory and landscape.
