The island of Fuerteventura recently hosted a new edition of the Technological Breakfasts, an event aimed at the local business community. The session focused on current challenges in attracting, developing, and retaining professionals in a context shaped by digitalization, artificial intelligence, automation, and new work models.
Organized by the Fuerteventura Island Council, through the Department of New Technologies, the meeting took place at the Palace of Training and Congresses. It brought together experts in talent management, leadership, training, and digital skills.
The councilor for the area, Carmen Alonso, highlighted the importance of technological transformation and artificial intelligence, emphasizing that "behind any digitalization process, people remain." Alonso stressed the department's goal to "accompany our companies not only in adopting technology but also in developing the necessary talent to leverage it," aiming for "a Fuerteventura with more digital, innovative, and competitive companies, but also with more opportunities for our talent to train, develop, and find their professional future on the island."
During the event, discussions revolved around new leadership strategies for attracting and developing professionals, the digital competencies currently demanded by the labor market, and the need to strengthen the connection between training and businesses.
The program included presentations, analyses, and an open discussion forum, followed by a Coffee Networking session. This final segment facilitated the exchange of experiences and the creation of new connections among participants.
A notable innovation this year was the implementation of COPLA, an accessible communication platform providing automatic real-time subtitling. This system, accessed via QR code, aims to enhance information access for individuals with sensory difficulties, supporting the Island Council's initiatives to improve accessibility and reduce communication barriers in public events.
The Technological Breakfasts are part of the Island Council's commitment to fostering knowledge, exchange, and connection among companies and professionals in Fuerteventura, addressing key issues of innovation and digital transformation in each edition.
