The Cabildo of Fuerteventura is driving the island's digital transformation with a new data-based, artificial intelligence, and Digital Twin infrastructure, involving an investment of 1.6 million euros.

The strategic initiative, titled ‘Fuerteventura Smart Secure & Digital Twin 2030’ and promoted by the island Corporation's Strategic Projects area, has been selected under the RedCyTI call for the promotion of smart cities and territories. Of the total investment of 1.6 million euros, 1.36 million comes from Red.es/FEDER.
The President of the Cabildo, Lola García, and the Minister for the area, Carmen Alonso, have highlighted the value of this project, which will provide the Cabildo with new tools for a better understanding of the island, scenario anticipation, and decision support through integrated island-wide digital information.
The project is structured around four main complementary actions. The first is the implementation of an Island Cybersecurity Platform to protect Fuerteventura's digital ecosystem, enhancing monitoring and response capabilities against incidents.
An innovative Island 3D/4D Digital Twin will also be developed, serving as a planning tool to digitally represent Fuerteventura. This system will integrate geospatial information and data related to mobility, tourism, and infrastructure to analyze its functioning and simulate scenarios.
The third line focuses on the energy optimization of public infrastructures using artificial intelligence, employing sensorization and predictive models to improve efficiency.
Finally, a Territorial Data Space will be created to integrate and structure information from multiple sources, facilitating its reuse and the development of new services for companies and startups, thereby boosting the island's ICT ecosystem.
