A total of 110 students will undertake their internships between July and August in various areas of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, including the Consorcio de Abastecimiento de Aguas a Fuerteventura (CAAF), the Technology Park, the Pozo Negro Experimental Farm, as well as island municipalities, private companies, and third-sector entities.
During the welcome event, the president of the Cabildo, Lola García, emphasized the goal of providing young people with opportunities to develop their life projects in Fuerteventura. She noted that these internships allow them to gain experience, understand the island's professional landscape, and establish initial contact with companies and institutions that could lead to future employment.
For his part, the Minister of Education, Adargoma Hernández, explained that collaborations with companies and entities are expanded annually to offer internships that are increasingly tailored to students' training and facilitate their entry into the labor market under real conditions.
In this edition, the program continues to broaden its collaboration with private companies and third-sector entities, enabling students to undertake internships in diverse fields related to their studies, such as telecommunications companies, nursery schools, training academies, and other professional services.
With over 25 years of history, the Practical Training Scholarship Program has provided more than 2,000 local students with their first exposure to the job market, establishing itself as a benchmark initiative in the Canary Islands.
This program is one of eight educational aid and scholarship lines promoted by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, representing a total investment of nearly five million euros. This positions the Cabildo as the island administration with the highest educational investment per capita in the Canary Islands, at 33.96 euros per person, compared to a regional average of 13.11 euros.
