The Memoria Viva 2025 employment program, promoted by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura and the Canarian Government, allocates 472,000 euros to the restoration of heritage assets, offering job opportunities to 17 individuals on the island.

Currently, the 17 participants of the Memoria Viva 2025 employment plan are working at the La Corte windmill, located in the municipality of Antigua. This project, with an investment exceeding 472,000 euros, is co-financed by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura and the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canary Islands Development Fund (Fdcan).
The tasks carried out by the students in this program include interior cleaning of the La Corte windmill, conservation of its wooden elements, exterior and interior painting, and general site landscaping. The main objective of Memoria Viva 2025 is the improvement and conservation of heritage sites throughout the island of Fuerteventura.
Since its inception in November 2025, the program has intervened in over fifteen locations, including museums, cultural centers, and other sites of historical interest. Completed actions include the cleaning and conservation of the El Roque windmill in La Oliva, and the cultural heritage complex of La Ampuyenta in Puerto del Rosario, which comprises the house of Fray Andresito, the Hospitalito, and the Doctor Mena house.
The Memoria Viva 2025 workers have also carried out tasks at the El Tostón lighthouse in El Cotillo, the Villaverde windmill, and the Cueva del Llano in La Oliva, as well as at the La Entallada lighthouse in Tuineje. Other intervention points have been the houses of Felipito El Feo in Puerto del Rosario and the La Atalayita settlement interpretation center in Antigua. During March, efforts focused on the Llanos de la Concepción windmill in Puerto del Rosario, the La Entallada lighthouse in Tuineje, and the Tesjuate unitary school.

"This employment plan offers a job opportunity to nearly twenty people, while protecting and caring for Fuerteventura's heritage spaces and assets."

Furthermore, the Employment Promotion Councilor highlighted the importance of coordination with local councils, which also allows for interventions in other municipal historical sites, such as traditional houses, historic lime kilns, and old schools.
