The works, which will have an execution period of seven months from their start, include the installation of sanitation networks and the subsequent asphalt paving of the affected streets. Additionally, efforts will be made to recover existing dry stone walls along the route.
These actions are part of the Insular Plan for Cooperation on works and services within municipal competencies, and are carried out at the request of the Antigua City Council. The President of the Cabildo, Lola García, emphasized that improving basic infrastructure and services is a priority objective, carried out in coordination with the local councils.
The Department of Infrastructure, headed by Blas Acosta, is responsible for tendering these works, which also involve the Department of Water, under the direction of Adargoma Hernández.
The project is financed by contributions from the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN) and the hydraulic works agreement with the Government of the Canary Islands. Interested parties have until September 23 to submit their applications, with all information available on the island corporation's electronic headquarters.
