Following the positive reception of the initial sessions in Antigua and Pájara, the Fuerteventura Protagonista project continues its community development work on the island. These initiatives aim to create opportunities for citizens to meet, share experiences and concerns, and recognize the potential of joint action.
The first meetings have highlighted residents' interest in opening new spaces for collaboration in community life. Active participation in these sessions lays the groundwork for progress, facilitating connections between individuals, associations, professionals, and administrations, and recognizing local capabilities.
Promoted by the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through the Department of Citizen Participation and Open Government, in collaboration with the General Foundation of the University of La Laguna (FGULL) and the island's town councils, the project will now focus on establishing community working groups. These groups will serve to identify interests, needs, and propose joint actions.
The upcoming gatherings will take place in Antigua on October 21st at 6:00 PM in the Senior Center, and in Pájara on October 30th at 5:00 PM in the Youth Center. The meetings are open to anyone interested in contributing to their municipalities' development, regardless of whether they belong to an organization.
The project's premise is that each municipality possesses resources and individuals capable of driving its development. The challenge lies in creating conditions for these actors to meet and collaborate, transforming shared concerns into concrete actions. Fuerteventura Protagonista thus seeks to strengthen collaboration and foster more cohesive and co-responsible communities across the island's six municipalities.
