The Little Challenge – Living Heritage project, funded by ACIISI, was presented at the 2026 Gran Canaria Senior Fair in Gáldar, combining technology and culture to stimulate memory and the well-being of older adults.

The Little Challenge – Living Heritage project, funded by the Canarian Agency for Research, Innovation, and Information Society (ACIISI), participated in the First Gran Canaria Senior Fair 2026, held in Gáldar on October 1, 2, and 3. The initiative, driven by SPARKLING TECH SOLUTIONS, S.L., received full funding for its eligible budget, amounting to 100,000 euros.
During the event, the project team showcased how technology can be a tool to stimulate memory, foster participation, and recover knowledge and experiences linked to Canarian culture. The “Memory Challenge” was presented, an intergenerational activity combining memory, Canarian traditions, heritage, and technology, allowing attendees to try mini-games and explore the Living Heritage Memory Map.
Little Challenge's intergenerational platform features a virtual cognitive assistant designed to interact with older adults through conversations, adapted challenges, and mental stimulation activities. The project aims to enhance active memory, cognitive training, and emotional well-being, while also preserving the intangible heritage of the Canary Islands.
Through the platform, seniors can share their memories, stories, and traditions to create a living heritage repository that facilitates intergenerational exchange. Technology is presented as a tool to value their experience and knowledge as part of the collective memory of the Canary Islands.
The 2026 Gran Canaria Senior Fair, under the slogan ‘active aging’, served as a platform to bring the project directly to the public, especially seniors, their families, and caregivers, as well as younger generations. The event reinforced the goal of recognizing seniors as active protagonists and fostering knowledge exchange.
Little Challenge – Living Heritage is being developed between March 2026 and April 2027 and is part of the social innovation projects funded by ACIISI to address specific social challenges with innovative solutions combining technology, cognitive stimulation, and cultural heritage.
