The main objective of this project, co-financed by 85 percent with FEDER 2021-2027 funds, is to implement a new cold generation system to meet the current thermal demand. This upgrade aims to ensure higher energy efficiency and a lower environmental impact, aligning with the center's commitment to sustainability.
Currently, the hospital utilizes eight air-to-water chillers, which will be replaced by water-to-water chillers connected to its own heat dissipation system. This new solution will not only enhance energy performance and reduce environmental impact but also lower maintenance and operational costs, managed through an intelligent centralized control system.
The construction work will be carried out concurrently with the hospital's regular operations. To avoid disruptions, measures such as isolating work areas and adjusting construction schedules will be implemented.
Furthermore, a new transformation center and a photovoltaic plant have recently been installed at the Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín University Hospital to supply energy to the center's air conditioning and chiller equipment.
