After six years with the claretian team, Andrew Albicy is leaving Dreamland Gran Canaria. The French player, who arrived on the island in 2020, departs having established himself as a pivotal and influential figure in the club's recent history.
His signing occurred during a complex period marked by COVID-19 health restrictions. Arriving from Zenit Saint Petersburg, Albicy returned to Spain with prior experience in the Liga Endesa from his time at MoraBanc Andorra, quickly becoming the team's playmaker.
The French international guard concludes his time at Gran Canaria after playing 308 official games. He leaves behind historic statistical achievements: 1,281 assists distributed, making him the club's absolute leader in this category ahead of point guards like Albert Oliver and Tomás Bellas, and 444 steals, surpassing Jim Moran's record.
Albicy's era coincided with a competitive period for the club, which reached five Liga Endesa Playoffs and three Copa del Rey tournaments, including a semi-final appearance. The pinnacle of his island career was the historic EuroCup title won in 2023, a continental success for which the Frenchman was a key player.
“"We thank him for his work and effort over these years, and wish him the best of luck in his future, both personal and professional."
